The jewelry of Annie Fensterstock deftly blends a mastery of ancient goldsmithing techniques with dynamic contemporary design. Fensterstock's jewelry is entirely hand fabricated in the traditional materials of 18 karat and 22 karat gold and platinum. Her works range from simple hammered wedding bands and unusual diamond engagement rings to intricately hand-woven necklaces with jewel-encrusted pendants.
Annie Fensterstock combines innovation with tradition to create her jeweled ornaments. She employs techniques such as chain weaving and granulation in the style and manner of ancient goldsmiths. Yet while she uses techniques dating back centuries, her personal style has a distinctly modern feel. "I am continually inspired by the world around me," says Fensterstock. "Through my work, I seek to re-imagine and reinterpret the past, fusing the beauty of the ancient with the vitality and the rhythm of the modern world."
Annie celebrates the intrinsic radiance of precious metals and gemstones, favoring unusual colored diamonds like yellows and oranges and fancy sapphires ranging from hot pinks to moody blues. With these vibrant colors and her bold aesthetic, she creates pieces that are alive with detail and design, truly exquisite works of art.
Annie Fensterstock received her BFA in metalsmithing and jewelry design from the University of Michigan, where she studied under Gene and Hiroko Pijanowski. She continued her studies at the Jewelry Arts Institute in New York City and the Fashion Institute of Technology and holds a certificate from the Gemological Institute of America. She presently works out of her New York City studio.
Annie Fensterstock’s current collections are inspired by a combination of elements – the richness and sensuality she finds in different cultures, the breathtaking color and serenity of nature, and the rhythmic pace and music of the city. Her jewelry reflects a sophistication and refinement that places her among the most talented designers in her field.
